Performance splints for athletes in Valencia

Sports splints

Performance splints. Performance.

You run along the Turia. You train for a marathon. Or you combine running, cycling and swimming. You may have heard of dental splints to improve sports performance. But not all splints are the same. And better performance is not a promise for every athlete. Your oral health is also part of your sporting life. Choosing a splint starts with understanding its purpose, not with a promise to run faster.

Performance. What we know and don't.

What is a performance splint?

It is an intraoral device designed to modify certain tooth contacts or jaw position during exercise. Its design and purpose vary depending on the system. Studies look at whether these changes affect muscle response. It does not mean you should clench your teeth when running, nor that a splint corrects your posture.

Will it make me faster?

It cannot be guaranteed. Study results do not allow promising better times to every runner.

Can I train with my splint?

Only once it is checked as suitable for that use. A bruxism splint has another purpose.

FAQs. Performance splint.

Sports mouthguard

It aims to reduce injuries to teeth and oral tissues from impacts. Its protective function is better supported than general performance claims.

Occlusal splint

It is used when clinically indicated, for example to protect against tooth wear or certain jaw problems. It is not automatically suitable for training.

Performance splint

Se propone para influir en aspectos del ejercicio. No implica protección frente a golpes ni tratamiento del bruxismo. Cada función debe comprobarse por separado.
